This event promises to unite clinicians who share a keen interest in managing dry eye disease and ocular surface conditions. Attendees can look forward to an engaging program that includes discussions on immunology, the use of intense pulsed light (IPL), and in-depth explorations of clinical cases.
Doors will open at 6:00 PM, with the main program kicking off at 6:30 PM. Participants will have the opportunity to earn three hours of Continuing Professional Development (CPD) credits, which encompass two hours dedicated to therapeutic and interactive content. Highlighting the evening will be presentations and a panel discussion led by esteemed optometrists Adam Barron and Lyndon Ferguson. Both are well-respected figures in the field of dry eye care and bring a wealth of expertise to the table.
Adam Barron, who graduated from the QUT School of Optometry in 2005, is devoted to providing exceptional eye care services to regional areas. His clinical interests span various areas including orthokeratology, myopia control, freeform scleral lens fitting, and the management of dry eye disease alongside ocular pathology. Notably, he earned his International Academy Certification in Myopia Management in 2025 and has been an integral member of the Dry Eye Society since its inception.
In addition to his contributions to the society, Barron is affiliated with several professional organizations, including the Orthokeratology Society of Oceania, the Cornea and Contact Lens Society of Australia, and the QCH Paediatric Optometry Alignment Program. He also serves as an Aviation Eye Examiner, showcasing his diverse range of expertise.
On the other hand, Lyndon Ferguson practices full-scope optometry on the Gold Coast with a strong emphasis on dry eye and ocular surface diseases. His extensive experience encompasses both private practice and hospital eye casualty contexts in Australia and the UK.
Ferguson completed his undergraduate studies at QUT in Brisbane and holds a Master of Science in Clinical Optometry from City University in London, where his research centered on managing dry eye and ocular surface diseases. He also possesses a Diploma of Therapeutics (IP) and has advanced qualifications in specialty contact lenses, dry eye disease, glaucoma, and medical retina.
